DMEM/F-12 contains amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts and other components needed for multi-type cell culture.
DMEM/F-12 is a 1:1 mixture of DMEM and Ham’s F-12, and it combines DMEM’s high concentrations of glucose, amino acids, and vitamins with F-12’s wide variety of components. DMEM/F-12 is widely used for supporting the growth of many different mammalian cells, including MDCK, glial cells, fibroblasts, human endothelia cells, and rat fibroblasts.
DMEM/F-12 contains no proteins, lipids, or growth factors. Therefore, DMEM/F-12 requires supplementation, commonly with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). DMEM/F-12 uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system and therefore requires a 5–10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH.
All raw material components used for cell culture media products are screened through using strict quality control testing. cell culture media are manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility using water for injection, filtered through final 0.1 μm sterile filtration and aseptic filled in a Hundred-stage FFU. The filter integrity tests are performed before and after filtration. Each lot of cell culture media is subjected to sterility test, pH, osmolality, endotoxin and cell culture test.
